Usually, if you have more than one computer then you have them linked through a network. This is typical for companies. In this case, one printer is often used for many users. The printer could be attached directly through an Ethernet cable or through a networked PC. Each workstation has to have a set network printer as a printing device. The “Add Printer Wizard” will help you out.
Instructions for Microsoft Windows® XP:
- Click the “Start” button and select the “Printers and Faxes” button.
- In the left pane click on the “Add a Printer” button.
- Check the “A network printer or a printer attached to another computer” checkbox and click the “Next” button.
- Choose the “Connect to this printer (or to browse for a printer…)” radio button.
Insert the printer address if you know it and click the “Next” button. (Skip Step 5).
Or just click the “Next” button and locate the printer in next step. - Locate the directly connected printer or printer connected to computer in network. Click the “Next” button.
- On the next page, decide if you want to set this printer as a default or not, and select the radio button of your choice.
- On the summary page click the “Finish” button.
Instructions for Microsoft Windows Vista®:
- Click the “Start” button and select the “Control Panel” button.
- In the “Hardware and Sound” section click on the “Printer” selection.
- In the main upper pane click on the “Add a Printer” selection.
- Choose the “Add a network, wireless or Bluetooth printer” selection.
- The wizard will scan a network for available printers and will display a list of them.
- Choose one of the listed printers and click the “Next” button.
- If you are asked for a driver installation, use “Windows update” and insert the drivers by “Have Disk” if you have one, or specify the drivers from a list.
- Click the “Next” button on the next page.
- On the summary page, click the “Finish” button.
Instructions for Microsoft Windows® 7:
- Click the “Start” button and select the “Devices and Printers” option.
- In the main upper pane click on the “Add a Printer” selection.
- Choose the “Add a network, wireless or Bluetooth printer” selection.
- The wizard will scan the network for available printers and will display a list of them.
- Choose one of the listed printers and click the “Next” button.
- If you are asked for a driver installation, use “Windows update” and insert the drivers by “Have Disk” if you have one, or specify drivers from a list.

Tips and Tricks:
- If you have more printers added, you can change the default printer as needed. Right-click on the printer and choose the “Set as default printer” option.
- To remove a printer, right-click on the printer and choose the “Remove Device” option.
