Many applications (typically older ones) require being launched under an administrator’s rights to guarantee their full functionality. Some applications have not been released in versions that work seamlessly on Windows Vista® or Windows® 7. In addition to compatibility mode, these operating systems also have a command that allows setting the appropriate application or batch file to run under an administrator. In Windows® 7, it is possible to automate this process so users don’t have to choose this option in the context menu every time the application launches. To permanently set this attribute for any application, follow the instructions below.
Instruction:
- Locate the application’s shortcut and right-click on it. Choose “Properties” from the context menu.
- Switch to the “Shortcut” tab and click on the “Advanced” button.
- Select the checkbox next to the “Run as Administrator” option and then click the “OK” button.
- Click on the “OK” button again to close the properties. Now that you are running it under admin, you should have no problems!
