Drivers are essential software for the functioning of computer hardware. It is always a good idea to back them up to an external source in case you lose them due to computer problems. If you don’t back up your drivers and your operating system stops working, you might be in trouble.
Many PC manufacturers have their own drivers for crucial hardware and Windows® generic drivers won’t work. Usually, PC buyers are supplied with a CD or DVD containing the correct drivers. In a situation where you lost the CD or never had it, you have to use any third-party application to back your drivers. In the instructions below, find out how to back up your drivers with the Double Driver© portable application in Windows® 7.
Instructions to back up drivers:
- Open your Internet browser and go to the Double Driver© home page.
- Click on the “Download Double Driver” link in the middle of the page.
- Now click on the “First Download Site” link for the Double Driver© product and save the file to your hard drive.
- Unzip the downloaded file.
- Go to the folder where you extracted the zipped file and run the “dd.exe” file.
- Click on the “Backup” button on the main navigation bar.
- Click on the “Scan current system” button at the bottom, the list of all drivers in your PC is displayed.
- Check the drivers you want to backup and click on “Backup Now”.
- Select the drive and folder where you want to back up your drivers.
- Click on the “OK” button.
Tips and Tricks:
- To restore drivers, click on the “Restore” button in the application (Step 6). Then locate the folder with the backed up drivers, and click on the “Restore Now” button.
