There are many threats on the Internet and people are always looking for protections against them. Parents want to have a reliable parental control installed to avoid unpleasant troubles, employers want monitoring tools, and the list goes on.
For Google ChromeSM users, there is a simple solution called BlockIt©. This Internet browser security extension restricts access to certain websites so dangerous or inappropriate content cannot be reached. The instructions below explain how to install the BlockIt© add-on and block the websites you want.
Install and set up the BlockIt© add-on:
- Launch Google ChromeSM and go to the BlockIt© page on the Softpedia®.
- Download the latest BlockIt© version.
- When asked if you want to add BlockIt© to your browser, add it.
- In the URL/address bar type “chrome://extensions” and press enter.
- Click on the “Options” button.
- You will be redirected to the password page of the extension. The first time you use it, you don’t enter a password because you don’t have one. Just click on the “Login” button.
- Now enter the name of the websites you want to block and click on the “Block” button.
You can type in a list of addresses and block them all at once by clicking on the “Block All” button. - Now set a password so no one can unblock your settings by clicking the “Change Access Password” section located at the bottom of the page.
- Once completed, you may logout. Any addresses you entered will now be blocked.
