If you need to create an image of a DVD or CD, there are many file formats to choose from. The most frequently used is an ISO image file, which is an image of what should be on a CD or DVD.
If you download an ISO file, you first need to burn it to a disc. Windows® 7 comes with an integrated image burner so you simply have to double-click the file and then select the “Burn” button. But if you have an older operating system or you want to use a special application, the instructions below describe the process of downloading and using Free ISO Burner© application. This software can directly burn your ISO and CD/DVD image file to CD-R,CD-RW, DVD-R, DVD-RW, DVD+R, DVD+RW,HD DVD and Blu-ray Disc without having to mount any "virtual drives".
Burning an image using Free ISO Burner©:
- Launch your Internet browser and go to the Free ISO Burner© homepage.
- Scroll down the page and click the “Download Free ISO Burner (SoftSea Mirror)” link. Save the application file (FreeISOBurner) on your hard drive.
- Launch the file by double clicking on it.
- Insert a blank CD or DVD into your drive.
- Within the FreeISOBurner© file window, click the “Open” button.
- Locate the ISO file you want to burn onto the blank disc.
- In the “Drive” dropdown, select the optical drive which contains the empty disc.
- Click the “Burn” button at the bottom.
