Sometimes Facebook® makes changes on users’ profiles without any notification. Unfortunately, some of these changes are not always for the better. One change many people don’t like is its automatic update of the contact email address to “@facebook.com”. This may have been done in an effort by Facebook® to make its email services more visible and relevant. Called the “Switcheroo”, this update can be changed back to a preferred email address to be displayed on your profile.
Update email address on Facebook® profile:
- Launch your Internet browser and log in to your Facebook® account.
- Click on your name so that you are taken to your home page.
- Under your photo on the left side, click on the “Info” option.
- Scroll down to the “Contact Information” section and click on the “Edit” button.
- Next to your primary email address, you see a circle with a slash through it. Move your mouse over it until a pop-up appears with the words "Hidden from Timeline". Click on the dropdown arrow and choose “Shown on Timeline”.
- Below the primary address, you should see your Facebook address. Click on the dropdown arrow and choose “Hidden from Timeline”.
- Click the “Save Changes” button when you're done.
