Every time you log on to your computer, you will see an image on your desktop that is set as a background image or wallpaper. You can change this image to whatever your personal preference is. For example, it can be a favorite photo or graphic image you have or one that comes with your system, and there are many available on the Internet. To change your desktop background image, follow the instructions below.
Instructions for MS Windows® XP:
- Go to your desktop. Remember to minimize all applications or show only your desktop by pressing the “Win Key + D” on your keyboard.
- Right–click on your desktop.
- Choose “Properties”
- Switch to the “Desktop” tab.
- Click on the “Browse” button, locate the image you want and click on the “Open” button.
- Click on the “OK” button.
Instructions for MS Windows Vista® and Windows® 7:
- Go to your desktop. Remember to minimize all applications or show only your desktop by pressing the “Win Key + D” on your keyboard.
- Right–click on your desktop.
- Choose “Personalize”
- Click on the “Desktop Background” link.
- Click on the “Browse” button, choose the folder where your image is located and click on the “OK” button.
- Images from the folder are displayed, click on the image you want (a small tick is displayed in upper left corner).
- Click “Save changes” and close the window.
Tips and tricks:
- In Windows® 7, you can tick multiple images and they will display in rotation according to time intervals you set.
- You can easily locate the image in Explorer and then right-click to show the menu and choose “Set as Desktop Background”. The image will immediately be set as a background, but without preferences.
