The spelling and grammar feature in classic text editors helps us avoid typos and other writing errors in our documents and files; but what about our emails and similar types of online communication? Fortunately, there are some add-ons available for Internet browsers that can help with spelling. If you use Internet Explorer®, there is a very simple extension named Speckie© that underlines words it doesn’t know and suggests word corrections. This add-on uses an English dictionary by default, but you can download other languages. Read the instructions below to learn how to download and install Speckie© the Internet Explorer® spelling checker.
Speckie© download and install instructions:
- Launch Internet Explorer® and go to the Speckie© download page.
- Click on the “Download Speckie©” button and save the installation file on your hard drive.
- Close Internet Explorer® and run the downloaded file.
- On the welcome screen, click on the “Next” button.
- Read the End User License Agreement, select the “I accept the terms in the License Agreement” option button and click on the “Next” button.
- Now, click on the “Install” button and when the installation process finishes, click on the “Finish” button.
- Launch the Internet Explorer® browser again. At the bottom of the window, you will see information pop up about the Speckie© add-on. Click on the “Enable” button.
- From now on, if you type any word in the text field of Internet Explorer®, the Speckie© will check its spelling. If you make a mistake, it will suggest similar words just like text editors.
