In the articles that focus on adding a program to my startup in Windows® and changing my current startup programs you are shown how to manage programs that are launched immediately after the Windows® startup, as well as disabling those programs through the Microsoft Windows® System Configuration console. In this article you will learn how to have programs launched after startup but not while your operating system is starting. You can select programs that can have their initialization set to be delayed, so the computer can start the operating system faster. For this function, you can use a third party program such as Spyware Terminator. Spyware Terminator contains the “Startup Tuner” tool, and using this will allow you to change your startup programs that run when Windows® starts up. To learn how, follow the instructions below.
Instructions:
- Install the Spyware Terminator 2012 application by following the steps from the article that focuses on the installation of a free spyware and adware blocker.
- Start the application.
- In the “Tools” tab, click on the “Startup Tuner” button.
- A list of all the startup programs will display. Choose applications that can be postponed and in the “Action” column set the dropdown menu to the “Delay” option.
- If you want to choose an application where you are able to skip the initialization at the startup, in the “Action” column, set the dropdown menu to the “Disable” option.
- Click the “Save Changes” button.
- In the confirmation dialog box click the “YES” button.
Tips and Tricks:
- Set “Delay” for launching communicators and multimedia applications, these aren’t usually needed immediately after startup and can be delayed.
Warnings:
- Do not disable programs that provide security or interface settings. Only set “Delay” if it is really necessary.
