disable folder pop-up description

There is a special feature in file manager Windows® Explorer called a folder pop-up description, which shows you information about a folder when you hover your mouse cursor over it. The folder pop-up displays information such as the date the folder was created, its size and stored files. This data proves helpful to some and bothersome to others. If you happen to fall in the latter category, the instructions below explain how to disable this feature in Windows® 8.1.

Disabling Information Pop-ups in Windows® Explorer:

  1. Launch Windows® Explorer (press “Winkey + E” keyboard shortcut).
  2. Switch to the “View” tab in the ribbon.
  3. Click on the “Options” icon.
  4. Switch to the “View” tab and uncheck the “Show pop-up description for folder and desktop items” checkbox.
