how to download and install Dropbox®

Dropbox® has become very popular. It is an easily accessible folder on the Internet where you can copy and download data from a computer or mobile device. All you have to do is have the Dropbox® application installed on the device and it creates a virtual folder. The folder is a mirror of your account’s space located in online storage. This way, if you place a file in the folder you can see it on every device where the Dropbox® application is installed and logged into your account. You can use this feature for sharing work documents, photos, music, etc. The free version offers you 2GB of data space, but you can extend it for a monthly fee based on the space you need. Read the instructions below to learn how to download and install a free Dropbox® account.

Download and install Dropbox®:

  1. Open your Internet browser and go to the Dropbox® website.
  2. Click on the “Download Dropbox” button.
  3. Save the installation file to your computer and launch it.
  4. Click on the “Install” button on the welcome screen.
  5. Once the installation process has finished you must select the “I don’t have a Dropbox account” option and click on the “Next” button.
  6. Fill in all your account information, then check the “I have read and agree to the Terms of Service” checkbox and click on the “Next” button.
  7. Select the “2GB” size and click on the “Next” button.
  8. Now you can choose from two types of settings:
Typical – The Dropbox® folder will be created in the “My Documents” folder.
Advanced – You can specify the location of the Dropbox® folder.
  9. Go through the rest of the installation wizard by clicking on the “Next” button or click on the “Skip tour” button.
  10. Once you are finished, click on the “Finish” button.
  11. Now if you copy any files to the created folder you can access them anywhere where the application is installed and logged in to your account or in your Internet browser if you log in to your account on the Dropbox® website.

  • If you are copying a larger file to the Dropbox® data folder you have to wait until the file is uploaded to your online storage for it to be accessible anywhere. Once the uploading process has finished you can see a small green icon with a tick in the lower -left corner of the icon.
