iMessageSM was one of the first services that enabled users to send free SMS from smart phones. Designed for the iPhone® running the iOS 5 operating system, iMessageSM is similar to Viber™ or Whatsapp® in that it allows you to send messages via your GPRS / EDGE / WiFi (data connection) to other iDevices. What’s nice is that messaging is basically free and does not take up your message packs.
Recently, problems have been reported with this service. iMessageSM may stop working for some iPhone®, iPad® or iPod Touch® users. Listed below are some troubleshooting tips you may want to try to see if you can’t get your iMessage® service back up and running.
Basic Troubleshooting Tips for iMessageSM:
- Verify that the person you are messaging has iOS 5 or higher.
- Check the availability of data services (GPRS, EDGE, 3G, WiFi).
- If you use WIFI, the ISP may block messaging; it may help to set up DNS on Google®.
- If the problem still persists, delete the conversation’s history you had with an iDevice user and create a new session.
