The Mozilla® Firefox® Internet browser has become a very popular application, and judging by the massive amount of people who use this software, Firefox® has a strong fan base. In fact, many of these users participate in the software’s development, because it is open source software. The situation is similar with Thunderbird®, an email application from Mozilla® that is developed in the same way. Thunderbird® competes directly with Microsoft® OutlookSM, but unlike OutlookSM, Thunderbird® is free. The instructions below describe how to download and install this popular email application.
Installation instructions:
- Open your Internet browser and go to the Mozilla® Thunderbird® homepage.
- Click on the green “Thunderbird Free Download” button and save the file to your hard disk.
- Locate the downloaded file and run the installer by double-clicking the file. If your operating system asks you for confirmation, click on the “Run” button.
- The installation wizard will launch its welcome screen. Click on the “Next” button.
- On next page, leave the default “Standard” installation type as your selection and click on the “Next” button.
- Click on the “Install” button.
- When the installation process finishes, click on the “Finish” button.
- The application will launch automatically. Set your email account information and options to begin using this free email client.
