Social networking is a wide spread form of communication and people on these servers share their personal information and daily events. Be aware that this information has the potential to be abused, so you should consider adjusting your privacy settings on your Facebook® profile. Your profile settings can be set so that your personal data, photos and activities are available only for your friends or the people you want. To learn how to set the security rules for your profile, follow the instructions below.
Setting security rules on Facebook®:
- Log in to your Facebook® account (If you don’t have a Facebook® account yet, read the article that describes how to create an account).
- On the main navigation bar, click on the dropdown arrow next to the “Home” button.
- Select the “Privacy Settings” option.
- Now you can customize your privacy.
In “Control Your Default Privacy” you can set where your posts and status updates will be visible.
Below the “Control Your Default Privacy” are groups of data for your Facebook® account. Click on the “Edit Settings” option, and set the group of people who will see your information.
Tips and Tricks:
- If you want to change the privacy settings of photo albums that are already created, open the album and click on the “Edit Album” option. Select the group of people you wish to see this album in the “Privacy” dropdown menu and click on the “Save” button.
