creating a tiles group

Microsoft Windows® 8 brings a different look to the computer’s start screen. Inspired by the Windows Phone℠ operating system, the Windows® 8 interface, often referred to as “Metro”, represents computer applications through graphic boxes or tiles. This modern way of displaying active icons is the same for all Windows® 8-based devices, such as tablets, cell phones, laptops and personal computers.  With the same user interface displayed across all these devices, users will find these tiles help facilitate work in time.

This article discusses the initial steps you need for good organization of these tiles, including how to move them into groups and name these groups. The instructions below describe an example of creating a tiles group from existing tiles and how to name the created group in Windows® 8.

Create and name tiles groups in Windows® 8 instructions:

  1. Launch your device with Windows® 8 operating system. Wait for the process to complete until you are at the “Start” screen where the tiles are placed.
  2. Drag and drop the tiles you want to the right / left space on your desktop.
  3. Now place related tiles next to the ones you moved in step 2, so they create a new group.
You can add more tiles to this group in the same way.
  4. To name the group, you have to switch to the "semantic zoom" look. Click the minus symbol (or magnifying glass icon) in the bottom right corner of the screen.
Or, press the “Ctrl” button and scroll down on your mouse wheel.
  5. Right-click on the group you want to name and then click the “Name group” icon on the bottom toolbar.
  6. Type the name and then click the “Name” button.
  7. Switch back to the classic view by clicking somewhere on the desktop.
