What do you do if you lose or have your Android™ cell phone stolen? First, you should thoroughly search for it and you may decide to file a police report if you believe it was stolen. To help prevent misuse of your stolen Android™, you should install the AndroidLost© application, which is free and downloadable from the Android™ Market. This application allows the original user to locate the cell phone by GPS, set alarms for certain actions, display automatic messages, set up security settings where you can set the SMS control of your stolen phone, etc.
Downloading and installing AndroidLost©:
- Launch the Android™ Market and in the search box type an “Android Lost” string.
- The application should be easily found. Click on the application and install it. It is free to use.
- Launch the installed application in your device.
- Click on the “Request Administrator rights” button.
- Now you have to accept the right and click on the “Activate” button.
- Then you go to the AndroidLost© website where you have to log in with your Google® account (click the link in the upper-right corner).
- Now that you have your cell phone controlled by AndroidLost© it is up to you to decide how strictly you want to set up your security rules.
