Most online services that require a login and password typically allow you to recover the password if you can’t remember it. You may be required to answer a security question or two to prove that you are the real owner of the account, but recovery is possible. The instructions below describe how to reset the password on your Facebook® account.
Resetting a Facebook® password:
- Open your Internet browser and go to the Facebook® homepage.
- Click on the “Forgot your password?” link below the password box.
- Now you have four options:
- Enter your email,
- Enter your phone number,
- Enter your Facebook® username or
- Enter your full name. - Choose one and in the empty search box, fill in the information. Then, click on the “Search” button.
- Your account should be shown with partly hidden email. If it is correct, click on the “Reset Password”. Otherwise, click on the “Not My Account” button and choose one of the other options listed above for account identification.
- After clicking “Reset Password,” a reset code will be sent to your email. Type it in the “Password Reset Code” box and click the “Submit code” button.
- Insert your new password twice and click on the “Change Password” button.
- An offer to upgrade your security information will be made. You can change it if you want, then click on the “Save and Continue” button.
- Congratulations, you recovered your Facebook® account.
