Microsoft Office® 2010 contains a useful picture tool that you can use to create albums and perform basic operations on your pictures and photos. A commonly used technique is changing the resolution of a picture. It is often used if you want to resize photography taken by a digital camera. Photos taken by digital cameras are usually set at a high resolution and this can be a problem if you want to send these photos via the Internet. Picture Manager© offers more functions for changing picture resolution. Here, you will learn the two most commonly used functions. First, you will learn how to set the exact resolution in pixels. Secondly, you will learn the faster method where the computer program determines the picture resolution and you will only need to choose how the photo will be used. Both of these techniques can be found in the instructions below.
Instructions for custom pixel resolution:
- Open “My Computer / Computer” and locate the image. Right-click on it, and choose “Open With > Microsoft Office 2010” (this is actually the Picture Manager).

Tips and tricks:
- To resize more images in the folder, locate the folder in the left “Picture Shortcuts” window. Select the pictures in the main window and execute the steps above.
- At first, it is suggested that you try resizing copies of the original photos to prevent the loss of any original graphic information.
