Sometimes, you may need to remove an object or person from a photo. For this, there are professional-grade tools and applications used by graphic editors to manipulate photos and images. For the average computer user, free tools are available that easily and quickly retouch photos. One of these applications is Inpaint©. By simply using a brush tool, you can select the object on the image and the area will be retouched automatically. While the result might not be perfect, after a few tries , you can achieve satisfying results. The instructions below describe the process of downloading and installing the Inpaint© application trial and how to retouch photo. The trial application doesn’t enable you to save the image, but in the “Tips and Tricks” section you will learn how to save the image using IM ToolPack, another free and handy imaging tool.
Inpaint© download and installation instructions:
- Go to the Inpaint© download page in your Internet browser.
- Click on the “Download” button for the Inpaint© application.
- Save the file to your computer and launch it.
- Select your language from the dropdown and click on the “OK” button.
- Click on the “Next” icon on the Welcome screen.
- Specify the installation location and click on the “Next” button. Then, click on the “Next” button again.
- Choose the icon creation using the checkboxes and click on the “Next” button.
- Click on the “Install” button.
- Once the installation process has finished, click on the “Finish” button.
- Click on the “Open” icon in the main navigation bar and locate the image or photo in your computer.
- Your cursor will change into a red brush, and now you should fill in the area where the object is on the photo.
- Click on the “Inpaint” button in the main navigation bar (it looks like a “play” button).
- If you are not satisfied with the retouching results you can try again.

Tips and Tricks:
As mentioned above, the trial version of Inpaint© doesn’t enable you to save the resulting image, but here you can learn how to use the IM ToolPack software as a substitute for this function:
- Leave the Inpaint© application and the retouched photo open.
- Launch the IM ToolPack application. The installation process of this application is described in the article that focuses on uploading a screenshot.
- Click on the “Camera” icon. Drag the cursor over the retouched image and save the image in the IM ToolPack editor.
