Sometimes, you may need to find one special word in thousands of files and folders on your computer. Or, you may want to see all the files on your computer containing one particular word or phrase. One method is to use the Microsoft Windows® search tool, set the destination, and all its attributes. However, if you work with Free Commander© or other file manager it is a faster and easier function. By following the instructions below you can learn how to use this feature to search for certain words more effectively.
Using the search files/folders tool:
- Launch the Free Commander© application. To learn how to install it follow the steps in the article that focuses on installation of a freeware file manager.
- Locate the directory (folder) you want to search in.
- Press “Alt + F7” on your keyboard.
- Into the “File Name” box type the phrase or word you are looking for.
- Press “Enter” or click on the “Find” button.
Tips and Tricks:
- You can find this function in almost every file manager application, not only in Free Commander©.
- You can change the search location in the “Search in” box.
