how to turn the “My Recent Documents“ feature of Windows® 7 on

If you upgraded to Windows® 7 and are missing the  “My Recent Documents“ item listed in the start menu of Windows XP®, you can turn this feature back on. The “My Recent Documents” link is an easy way to open recently used documents and images from the Windows® start menu. Disabled by default in Windows® 7, you can turn this feature back on by  following the instructions below so this item is once again shown in the start menu.

Turning on “My Recent Documents” in Windows® 7:

  1. Right-click on the “Start” button and select “Properties”.
  2. Switch to the “Start Menu” tab.
  3. Click on the “customize” button.
  4. Find and tick “Recent Items” in the list of features.
  5. Click on the “OK” button to close the customization window. Do the same for the properties window.
