Taking a screenshot is generally the most common way to save the current position of your desktop. This is mostly used to save information, settings or to demonstrate your desktop’s position to someone else. If you are used to the Windows® system and need to do this on a Mac®, you may find it difficult because the method is different. Actually, it is quite simple. Taking a screenshot of the whole desktop:
- Set your screen (desktop) to the position you want to save.
- Press “Cmd + Shift + 3” on the keyboard.
Note: If your sound is on, your computer should make a brief camera shutter noise. - The screenshot will be saved on your desktop as a JPG image and labeled “screenshot” with the date and time.
Taking a screenshot of part of the desktop:
- Set your screen (desktop) to the position you want to save.
- Press “Cmd + Shift + 4” on the keyboard. Your cursor will turn into a small cross-hair reticle.
- Drag the “cross” cursor over the part of the desktop you want to capture and then release.
- The screenshot will be saved on your desktop as a JPG image and labeled “screenshot” with the date and time.
