If you are working on a computer or other device for which you use a private profile or information, you are probably using passwords every day. The password should be secure and strong, and you should never share it. Another way to lock and unlock your computer is by using a USB pen drive. A useful application can encrypt any USB pen drive disk so that it works as a key for your Windows Vista® or Windows® 7 operating system. In the instructions below the process of creating such a key using the Password Booster® Screen Lock is described.
Instructions for creating a USB key:
- Open your Internet browser and download the Password Booster® Screen Lock from the Softpedia® site.
- Run the downloaded file. At the welcome screen, click on the “Next” button.
- On the next page, read the License Agreement and select the “I accept the agreement” radio button.
- Select the destination location and click on the “Next” button. Then, click on the “Install” button.
- When the process finishes, click on the “Next” button and then on the “Finish” button.
- Launch the application and click on the “Setup” button.
- Select the “Enroll a flash drive” radio button and insert the flash drive into the USB port.
- Confirm by clicking on the “OK” button.
- In the main interface click on the “OK” button to close the application.
- Now if you remove the flash drive your PC will be locked. You can unlock it by inserting the USB flash drive again or by entering your account password.
Tips and Tricks:
- You can set the automatic OFF and ON features when the flash drive is inserted by switching the buttons on the main screen.
