Before setting up the IMAP access for Microsoft® Outlook® you first need to activate IMAP in your Inbox account.

To do so, please login to Inbox.com webmail and go to Activate IMAP page http://email.inbox.com/imap_activate.aspx.

Click "Activate IMAP" at the bottom of the page.

IMAP activation is an asynchronous process which will take about 1-5 minutes. After activation you can set up your device or email client to access your account via IMAP.

Setting up IMAP access for Microsoft® Outlook®

1. Create a new Outlook Account

1. Run Microsoft Outlook Express®
2. Go to the Tools menu and select Accounts

   

3. In the Internet Accounts window click the Add button and select Mail…

   

4. Type your name in the "Display name:" field and click on Next

   

5. Type your email address including domain (e.g. user@inbox.com) in the "E-mail address:" field and click on Next

   

6. Select IMAP as "My incoming mail server"

   

7. Set the incoming server to "imap.inbox.com" and the outgoing server to "smtp.inbox.com"

   

8. Type your email address including domain (e.g. user@inbox.com) into the "Account name:"" field. Enter your password into the "Password:"" field below, then check the box "Remember password" and click on "Next"

   

9. Click on Finish to end the wizard. Your outlook account has been created successfully.

   

2. Adjust your Outlook® Account settings

1. Run Microsoft Outlook Express®
2. Go to the Tools menu and select Accounts

   

3. In the Internet Accounts window click on the Mail tab
4. Select your Inbox.com account and click on Properties on the right

   

5. Navigate to the "Advanced" tab

   

6. 1. Set the port number for "Outgoing mail (SMTP)"" to 587.
      
   2. Set the port number for "Incoming mail (IMAP)"" to 993.
      
   3. Check "This server requires a secure connection (SSL)"" checkbox under "Incoming mail (IMAP)"

   

7. Go to the "IMAP" tab. Uncheck the "Store special folders on IMAP server" checkbox.

   

8. Navigate to the "Servers" tab, check the "Log in using Secure Password Authentication" and "My server requires authentication" checkboxes. Then click on Settings

   

9. Select "Use same settings as my incoming mail server" then click on OK twice and then on Close
