We implemented SMTPS (vs. SMTP) on the port 465 to provide a secure client server connection.
If you are using port 465 you may need to change the settings of your email client by enabling SSL/TLS for SMTP server.
If your client does not support SSL/TLS please use port 587 and disable SSL/TLS. Please refer to the simple instructions below for various clients.
Run Microsoft® Outlook Express®.
Go to the Tools menu and select Accounts
In the Internet Accounts window click on the Mail tab.
Select your Inbox.com account and click on Properties on the right.
Navigate to the Advanced tab.
If the port number for "Outgoing mail (SMTP):" is 465 then enable SSL by
checking "This server requires a secure connection (SSL)" checkbox under "Outgoing mail (SMTP)".
Run Microsoft Outlook 2010®
Go to File, click on Info and then on Accounts Settings.
Select Inbox account from the list and click Change.
Click More Settings… button and navigate to Advanced Tab.
If the port number for "Outgoing server (SMTP):" is 465 then enable SSL by
checking "This server requires a secure connection (SSL)" checkbox.
Run Microsoft Outlook 2003®
Go to the Tools menu and select Email-Accounts
Open Inbox account.
Click More Settings… button and navigate to Advanced Tab.
If the port number for "Outgoing server (SMTP):" is 465 then enable SSL by
setting the "type of encrypted connection" to SSL
Run Windows Live Mail®
Click Accounts, then select Inbox account on the left and click Properties on the top
Navigate to Advanced Tab
If the port number for "Outgoing mail (SMTP)" is 465 then enable SSL by
checking "This server requires a secure connection (SSL)" checkbox under "Outgoing mail (SMTP)".
Go to Settings | Mail, Contacts, Calendars and tap on the Inbox account.
In the Inbox tab, tap on Account to open its details..
Tap on "smtp.inbox.com" and if the Server port is set to 465 enable SSL by
setting the primary server details to: Server on, Use SSL on.
Continue by tapping on Done and Account
Run Thunderbird
Click on the Tools menu and select Account Settings... option menu
Click on Outgoing Server (SMTP) and select Inbox from the list. Continue by selecting the Edit button.
If the Server port is set to 465 enable SSL by
setting "Connection security:” to SSL/TLS.
