Email Help

Before setting up the IMAP access for your email client you first need to activate IMAP in your Inbox account.

To do so, please login to Inbox.com webmail and go to Activate IMAP page http://email.inbox.com/imap_activate.aspx.

Click "Activate IMAP" at the bottom of the page.

IMAP activation is an asynchronous process which will take about 1-5 minutes. After activation you can set up your device or email client to access your account via IMAP.

Setting up IMAP access for Mozilla® Thunderbird®

1. Start Thunderbird®
2. Click Skip this and use my existing email on theWelcome screen



3. If you do not see Welcome screen go to File, New and click on Existing Mail Account
4. Enter Your name, Inbox.com email address and password on the Mail Account Setup screen. Keep Remember password checkbox checked. Click on Continue.



5. Click on Manual config button at the bottom of the page

   

6. Select IMAP from Incoming dropdown menu
7. Set Incoming Server hostname to imap.inbox.com
8. Set Outgoing Server hostname to smtp.inbox.com
9. For Incoming server set Port number to 993 and select SSL/TLS and Encrypted password
10. For Outgoing server set Port number to 587 and select none and Normal password
11. Continue by clicking Done



12. Check the box I understand the risk on the next screen and continue by clicking Done



13. On the System Integration screen check the options according to your needs and continue by clicking OK



14. Click Confirm Security Exceptions button to verify Inbox.com certificate



15. On the main screen right click on Local Folders and create New folder named Drafts. Then go to Settings below New Folder.



16. On the Account Settings screen click on Copies&Folders tab and uncheck box Place a copy in:. On the same page also click Other under Keep Message Drafts in: . Select Local Folders and then Drafts. Your drafts will be stored locally due to IMAP Thunderbird limitations.
