How do I create or edit CSV Files?

You can use applications like Microsoft Excel to create and edit CSV files.

Your CSV file should be formatted as a table and must include a header, or first line, that defines the fields in your table. Inbox accepts many common header fields (name, email address, birthday, etc.).

Here are some additional things to keep in mind as you create your file:

• The file must include a column for the email address.
  
  If you don't include a column for email addresses (named, e.g., "email address", "business email", "work email", "home email", "alternate email", etc.), then the contacts won't be added.
  
  If you leave the column empty, contact without email addresses won't be added to the contact list.



• The "Name" field can be specified as one column, such as:




header >	Name
contact info. >	John Dana Forst




• or as separate fields for the first, middle and last name, such as:




header >	First Name	Middle Name	Last Name
contact info. >	John	Dana	Forst




• Other fields, which are not on the new contact form, are placed in the "Notes" section.



• Fields can be listed in any order.
