What is the maximum size of a single message, including attachments?

The total message size is 27 MB.  
Example: if the message body (HTML + inline images) weighs ~10 MB, the combined size of all attachments can be about 17 MB.

Can a deleted username be re-registered?

Accepted Answer

Yes, after a quarantine period.

When an account has been deactivated, it will be completely deleted within 3 months. Thereafter, the username has an quarantine period of 9 months.
The address is therefore reusable one year after initial deactivation.

How long can an account sit inactive?

If your subscription lapses, the mailbox is considered inactive after only a few days and will follow the [deletion timeline](#can-a-deleted-username-be-re-registered).

Which TLS versions are accepted?

All our services support TLS 1.2 and 1.3.

Our webmail blocks all third-party resources by default. You can load them manually on individual messages if needed, or disable this feature in the webmail settings.

Does Inbox.com scan for viruses and executables?

Incoming mail is analysed by a filtering engine; messages with known malware or executable attachments are blocked automatically.

Do you offer end-to-end encryption, shared-key encryption or a public key server?

Accepted Answer

No. Inbox.com does not provide server-side key management or zero-knowledge storage; any encryption must be handled in your own client.

Where is my data stored?

All mail resides on [Mailcore](https://www.mailcore.com/en/)'s infrastructure in Denmark. We also regularly take backups, stored with DigitalOcean in Germany.

Is the service fully open source?

Not entirely. The webmail itself is powered by the open-source Roundcube platform, but we add several proprietary extensions and integrations on top of it.

Can I access webmail through Tor or another proxy?

The site is served exclusively over HTTPS, so any TLS-capable proxy — including Tor — will work. Note, however, that subscription payments prevent full anonymity.

Can Inbox.com automatically forward mail or fetch mail from other providers?

Accepted Answer

No. Automatic forwarding and external-account fetching are not offered.

Can I use a custom domain or arbitrary “From” address?

No. Only the Inbox.com-aliases you create (up to ten) can appear in the “From” field, and custom domains are not hosted.

How many interface languages does Inbox.com webmail support?

All languages shipped with Roundcube, meaning more than 80 locales are available.

Why is “My Account” sometimes in English even when I choose another language?

Our in-house modules are translated to Danish, English, Estonian, Finnish, Hungarian, Italian, Norwegian and Russian. Any other webmail language falls back to English for those modules.

Do I have to register an SMS number or recovery e-mail?
