Inbox.com Introduces SMTPS method for Your Inbox.com Webmail
March 7, 2012: In our continuing effort to make your Inbox.com experience even more rewarding and convenient we have added an additional security layer. In order to increase the security of your outgoing emails and to provide a secure client-server connection to Inbox.com webmail, we have implemented an SMTPS method on our SMTP server. We recommend you to use this SMTPS functionality, as it increases your email security.
What does SMTPS mean?
SMTPS stands for Simple Mail Transfer Protocol (Secure)
It is not a protocol nor is it an extension of SMTP, instead it is a method used to secure the connection between your email client and the outgoing email server.
Connection security is guaranteed before any data is transferred
SMTPS provides authentication and data integrity and confidentiality.
Do I need to change my email settings?
This change affects only users that access their Inbox.com mailbox via an email client on port 465.
If you recently encountered any issues with outgoing emails, please refer to Inbox help to figure out the correct settings for your email client.
